The River Retreat is a perfectly positioned absolute waterfront holiday house complete with its own boat ramp and jetty.
The house is ideal for those interested in a holiday by the water with fishing, swimming and boating right from your backyard. The view from the waterfront is beautiful as it overlooks natural bushland on the other side of the river providing both a great view and privacy unlike many of the other waterfront properties in the area.
Large bifold doors open up onto a spacious north-facing deck providing seamless alfresco living, the perfect place to relax or entertain, whichever takes your fancy!
The boat ramp is suitable for small to medium boats as the access is through the side garage. Larger boats would need to use the public boat ramp which is a 2min drive down the road. Many of our guests choose to moor their boats at the jetty, making early morning fishing trips hassle-free.
The house is located a short stroll from the centre of Sussex, providing easy access to shops, cafes and clubs.
There are 3 bedrooms in the house. Downstairs features a waterfront queen bedroom with sliding doors that open up onto a large deck and the second room has two single beds. Upstairs there is a large, newly renovated 'parents retreat' bedroom with a new queen bed and new ensuite and beautiful views down the river.
Being animal lovers we understand that leaving your pet behind when you go on holidays can be heartbreaking and worry-some which is why the River Retreat is a pet-friendly property, allowing one dog only, strictly no cats allowed. We don't allow pets upstairs as it has carpet. If you would like to bring your pet please send us an email inquiry to see if we can accommodate your needs.

Linen
The advertised price is a discounted price for guests who are happy to bring their own sheet sets and towels. If you would prefer to hire linen and have your beds made up this can be arrange for $25 per bed (including bath towels). Please note that this property is fully self-contained, however it is not a serviced property. Servicing can be arranged during your stay at an extra charge.
We have a strict 'no smoking' policy inside the house.

Disappointed. Not very clean. The basics aren’t even covered (no milk to make a cuppa on arrival no tongs for the kitchen or potato masher…thought we’d adapt and bake our veg instead but the baking trays are rusted and filthy and no baking paper supplied) not much love goes into this place unfortunately and it shows. The bbq is really grimy and greasy too. Communication is incredibly poor also. The worst we’ve experienced infact. Location is lovely and this place has loads of potential but sadly isn’t anywhere near meeting it at this point. We won’t be back after our stay :(
Perfect Christmas stay
We love staying at Sussex as my husband is a keen fisherman and this house gives him quick access to the basin. It’s one of the nicer houses we’ve stayed at there with the large bifold doors opening right up onto the deck and the outlook of the house is just amazingly tranquil. We hope to be back again soon!

“WE LOVED OUR STAY! All 5 of us couldn't get over how amazing the location is (+ helps that the weather gods blessed us with very warm winter days). We loved that the back doors slid open creating a massive entrance to the beautiful yard. We spent the entire trip in the yard, enjoying the bbq, wharf, ducks and view. Really beautiful and peaceful. Each of us enjoyed the comfy beds + hot water. Appreciate having a heater in each room also. We will be back!”
Great Stay.
We had yet another wonderful stay at the River Retreat, This was our 4th stay and will definintley be back again. We bring our 2 small dogs and they absolutely love running down to the jetty each morning to see what's going on and love having a little bark at the resident pelican who we nick named Joe :) The house is in a very quiet spot (one of the reasons we stay) and the house is very well equipped with everything you need and yard is very dog freindly. The fishing is usually very good and being able to walk outside and throw a line in is fantastic! Thanks again for a great stay and will be booking again for next year!
